Welcome to Beth El

Whether you have never visited a synagogue
or are now reconnecting with your Jewish faith, we welcome you to Beth El Hebrew Congregation. We invite you to drop in for a visit to sample events such as a worship service, holiday observance, class or seminar, or special program. If you'd like more information about Beth El please click here.

For parents of young children, we have a special program for non-members who wish to introduce their pre-K through second grade children to our religious school experience. For details, contact Barry Smith,

News & Events

  • The annual Interfaith Dinner with Fairlington United Methodist Church will be held at Beth El on Tuesday, February 23. Come visit our neighbors up the road, enjoy wonderful food, and a talk by Kari Warren, Executive Director of Beth El House. Cost is $10. To reserve your place, contact David Itkin .
  • Beth El members launch an Entrepreneur Havurah. Business owners and those seeking advise for a start-up, established business, or business idea are welcome. Next meeting is February 10 at 6:45pm. Contact Dan Sondhelm.
  • The Brotherhood Purim Carnival will be held Sunday, February 28, beginning at noon. Children of all ages are welcome. Enjoy games, prizes, food... and especially hamantaschen.
  • Winter Can for Cans benefits the ALIVE! food program. Peanut butter and jelly, cereal, 1lb bags of rice, canned meat, fish, fruit and soup are on the shopping list and should be left in the Can for Cans outside the kitchen. Each One - Bring One - Every Time
  • Help for Haiti This island country has been hit with a devastating earthquake, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. You can help now by donating to the URJ (Union for Reform Judaism) web site. Visit their disaster relief page.
  • Beth El Olympic Culinary Games, our popular "Taste of Beth El" event, will be held Saturday, Feb. 20th at 6:30 p.m. Guests: $20 per person or $45 per family; Temple members who do not bring a dish: $15 per person or $35 per family. RSVP to tasteofbethel@aol.com and tell us how many in your party and what dish you plan to bring (no pork, shellfish or mixture of meat and dairy in the same dish.


Key Events


Share your favorite international dish at the Beth El Olympic Culinary Games, Saturday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m. Family teams are welcome as both cooks and tasters. Minimum donation is $35 per family, $15 per person for members who do not bring a dish. Guest donation: $20 per person and $45 per family. RSVP to tasteofbethel@aol.com
