Beth El Hebrew Congregation offers a number a ways to volunteer to support the local Northern Virginia community, and to directly support our temple.

 

In the NOVA Community

  • Beth El House
  • Carpenter's Shelter - Prepare and serve meals monthly
  • Bailey's Shelter - Prepare and serve meals monthly

 

At Beth El

Here are a number of opportunities.

  • Committees - Volunteer to support or serve on one of Beth El's many committees
    • Archives Committee - The committee is responsible for the caring and storage of all historical papers and objects of the Temple. Volunteer opportunities include organizing papers by subject, scanning and showing visitors our history.
    • Adult Education - The comittee is responsible for putting together new and exciting programs for life-long learning.
    • Buildings and Grounds Committee- Volunteers needed to assist in all aspects of maintaining and improving our facitilities. Existing opportunities include participating  in the on-going efforts to renovate our social hall, sanctuary and classrooms. New initiatives awaiting volunteer resources include improving landscaping, lighting, playground and storage.
    • Caring Community Committee - Volunteers are always needed to drive congregants to and from doctor's appointments, services, grocery shopping...deliver holiday bags to homebound congregants; deliver new baby bags full of goodies; deliver meals to those in need; help with shiva or memorial services.
    • College Committee - Help keep our youth engaged with Beth El by sending little holiday goodies to them while they are away at college.
  • Religious School
    • Bagel Bar - Sunday mornings
    • Canteen - Wednesday evenings

Special Events

Volunteer to help make our special events successful.

  • Purim Carnival
  • Beth El Book Sale - Annually in January
  • Oral Rehydration Project - Annually in Spring
  • Brotherhood Catering Events
  • Ushering at Friday night services and High Holidays

Beth El is raising funds for a new playground?

Beth El is getting a new playground!  If you would like to donate towards this very worthy project, simply send your donations to Beth El Hebrew Congregation and notate "Playground."  If you donate on line, the playground fund is first on the list!

Upcoming Events and Reminders

JCCNV Stroke Class Cancelled

Please note the Spot a Stroke Save a Life Class is cancelled for the Wednesday. It will be rescheduled in the near future. Thank you for understanding. 

Summer Service Times

We have special service hours on Fridays for the duration of the summer.  On Friday nights beginning June 28, services will begin at 6:30 PM proceeded by the Shabbat social hour at 5:30 PM. There will be an informal dinner following services on Friday nights. There is no RSVP required. Meet in the lobby after services to join for dinner.

 

High Holy Days

High Holy Days might seem far away but they are right around the corner. Look out for our communications and buy tickets to come. Rosh Hashannah services take place September 29 and 30; Yom Kippur services are October 8 and October 9. 

 

New Website

We are currently moving over to our new information system on ShulCloud. Our current web page will remain active for a few more weeks. Please feel free to use the preview link to use our new webpage and register your school age child(ren) for Religious School. Please be patient as we build capacity over the next few weeks. You can see a preview here. We hope you enjoy the ease of use and the new look. 

 

Donations

Have you made a donation yet in support of the new playground at Beth El? We are more than halfway to our goal of $200,000. Help support Beth El while cleaning your home. Donate your used books anytime. The office is always accepting donations year-round.
