Shakshuka in the Sukkah and WRJ Open House

Saturday, September 30, 2023 15 Tishrei 5784

12:00 PM - 2:00 PMOutdoor sukkah

Please join WRJ in the Sukkah September 30 beginning at noon, following Sukkot Shabbat services for a potluck shakshuka luncheon. All are welcome! WRJ is providing shakshuka for all! We will also enjoy pita bread, hummus, vegetarian dolmas, and soft drinks.

Shakshuka is a North African dish popular in Israel, made of gently poached eggs in a chunky tomato and bell pepper sauce seasoned with warm spices like cumin, paprika and crushed red pepper flakes. There are many ways to make Shakshuka! We encourage you to make a batch and bring it to share with everyone; and if you do, please bring a copy of your recipe to share, as well.

This event is also an Open House for current and prospective WRJ members and their guests — a delicious way to learn what WRJ is all about. Beth El WRJ membership is open to all adults who identify as women, whether or not they're members of Beth El.

If you're planning to bring shakshuka and are coming to services, prepare the shakshuka up to the point where you add the eggs. Bring your dish and uncracked eggs to the kitchen before services and we will add the eggs in the kitchen at Beth El and cook/warm everything up during services. If you're just coming straight to the event (not attending services), prepare the recipe to completion and bring your dish to the sukkah when you arrive.

If you have further questions about the event, please contact either or both of Co-Presidents Joanne Rhodes or Jeanette Astrow directly.

After you register, you'll receive a confirmation email, inviting you to send a reply email if you plan to contribute food to the potluck.

We look forward to seeing you Saturday!

Sorry, Registration has ended.
