Affinity Groups
Affinity groups are small communities within a larger organization that bring together people with shared identities, interests, or life experiences. They provide a space for connection, support, and mutual learning, while strengthening a sense of belonging. At Beth El, affinity groups also foster engagement by allowing members to build relationships around common bonds in a welcoming and meaningful way.

Brotherhood
The Brotherhood of Beth El Hebrew Congregation was founded to unite the men of the Congregation for all purposes conducive to the well-being and progress of both Beth El Hebrew Congregation and the cause of Reform Judaism. Our mission is to create a sense of community among the members of the Brotherhood, their families, and the Congregation.
Caring Community
Kehilat Chesed ("Loving Community")
Beth El describes itself as a kehilat chesed—a loving, caring community where members provide mutual support during life's emotional or physical challenges.
Chapel in the Woods
Beth El members are proud of the strides we have made in rehabilitating our two-acre acidic oak-hickory forest that lies behind our synagogue. Housing a “Chapel in the Woods,” this retreat serves as a place of quiet meditation, services, and prayer--and a site for teaching children about nature, playing, taking a hike, and observing wildlife.
Climate Committee
The Beth El Climate Working Group began meeting last winter. We are working on various projects to make the congregation more sustainable and promote greenhouse gas reductions.
Disability Inclusion Committee
The mission of the Disability Inclusion Committee is to facilitate the accommodation and appreciation of individual differences, so that all members of the temple community, regardless of physical, cognitive, emotional, or behavioral ability, can participate in all religious, educational, and life cycle events and acts of loving kindness to all humanity.
Israel Committee
The Israel Committee at Beth El supports democratic values and essential social services, advocating for the welfare of all residents of Israel and the territories. Guided by financial transparency and responsibility, the committee devotes at least 75% of its budget directly to programs and services. It operates independently—unaffiliated with political parties or government agencies—while affirming the legitimacy of the State of Israel.
Nex Gen
The purpose of this group is to bring the Jewish community, their families, and those actively in the conversion process closer together. Together, we are the next generation of congregants and board members of Beth El Hebrew Congregation. It is important for us to stay engaged and active in our spiritual home. Please, note that our official form of communication is via the mobile application GroupMe. If you wish to join, an administrator of the group will need to approve you.
Permanent Endowment Fund (PEF)
Beth El Hebrew Congregation’s Permanent Endowment Fund (PEF) was established in 1981 by 13 visionary families. The mission of the PEF is to ensure the long-term financial stability of Beth El Hebrew Congregation and to perpetuate the Jewish life of its congregants now and into the future.
Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) is a congregational sisterhood dedicated to supporting women, the synagogue, and the broader Jewish world. It serves as a space where women can connect, grow, and contribute both spiritually and communally.
