Young Professionals - Nex Gen (Beth El's 20's & 30's Group)
Charter Introduction
Welcome to our group! Nex Gen is a group of individuals in their 20s and 30s who gather for services, holidays, and seasonal Jewish activities. At the height of the COVID pandemic there was a noticeable lack of programming and event in Jewish spaces aimed at young Jewish adults and thus an idea took form… an idea to bring together a group of remarkable bright-minded Jews in their 20s and 30s to represent the next generation of Beth El and thus Nex Gen was born.
Nex Gen loves to welcome new young adults to Beth El, as our mission is to unite young Jewish individuals in a community setting that thrives on diversity and inclusion.
Beth El Hebrew Congregation Core Values:
Beth El: Nex Gen is a group supported by Beth El Hebrew Congregation. Beth El is a sacred, open and lively Jewish community for all who seek connection, meaning, and healing and are welcomed to begin or to continue their spiritual journey.
Beth El offers a multitude of ways of exploring Jewish heritage, of learning and practice and of putting Jewish values into action. In an atmosphere of joy and acceptance, people are invited and their families to Beth El Hebrew Congregation.
Beth El Nex Gen Principles
The purpose of this group is to bring the Jewish community, their families, and those actively in the conversion process closer together. Together, we are the next generation of congregants and board members of Beth El Hebrew Congregation. It is important for us to stay engaged and active in our spiritual home. Please, note that our official form of communication is via the mobile application GroupMe. If you wish to join, an administrator of the group will need to approve you.
- It is vital for the longevity of the group for every member to be actively engaged throughout the year. Membership access is at the discretion of the NexGen Council and can be revoked if you do not attend social events or participate in the GroupMe chat within a 12 month span.
- Be Kind and courteous to one another. Nex Gen is a safe place for all people.
- There is no discussion of politics, illicit substances, and or sexual activity in the GroupMe.
Our Whereabouts:
We generally get together after Friday night services and do fun things ranging from trying out local restaurants, to grabbing delicious desserts, etc. Additionally, we meet on weekends and get together for Jewish holidays and group functions in support of Beth El.
This past year, we went apple picking for Rosh Hashanah, broke the fast together on Yom Kippur, celebrated Purim at Sixth & I, made latkes and played trivia for Hanukkah, and hosted a Next Gen table at the temple’s second night Seder.
Outside of holidays, we’ve taken a tour of the new Capital Jewish Museum, held movie nights at the temple, and volunteered at Beth El’s MLK Day of Service. We have much in store for future events, so come and join us and join your Jewish Community.
