Join us for a screening of Yentl (1983), Barbra Streisandβs groundbreaking musical about identity, tradition, and the power of a good question β and a better song. This beautiful and bold film, based on a short story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, follows a young woman who disguises herself as a man in order to study Talmud in an era when women were forbidden to do so.
Before the film, enjoy an optional dairy lunch featuring a delicious spread of bagels, schmear, kugel, and all the toppings your bubbe would approve of. Lunch is $10 per person and will be served from 2:00β2:45 PM.
ποΈ The film is free to attend, thanks to our generous sponsors β but registration is required for both lunch and the screening so we can prepare plenty of food and ensure seating.
Come for the food, stay for the music, and prepare to feel all the feelings. (And yes, we recommend bringing a sweater β synagogues are famously unpredictable in temperature.)
Sorry, Registration has ended.
