B'NEI MITZVAH
The celebration of a child becoming a B'nei Mitzvah is one of the proudest moments in the life cycle of a Jewish family and congregation. When your child becomes a B'nei Mitzvah, not only do we celebrate their becoming a Jewish adult; we also find joy and are strengthened by the choice you made to raise your family according to the Jewish tradition. As your children become B'nei Mitzvah, we honor their dedication, determination, and discipline and we recognize yours.
We are very proud that at Beth El Hebrew Congregation, all students receive their own date that is not shared with any other students. (Exceptions made for twins). All services are on Saturday mornings at 10:30 am in our sanctuary. B'nei Mitzvah services are not held in the summer or during Jewish holidays. Students will receive the closest date available immediately following, or on, their birthday. There are extenuating circumstances that sometimes call for our flexibility in this structure. Over many years, we have created a system of choosing dates that we believe to be the most fair when balancing numerous competing schedules.
You will receive a letter in the mail when your child is in the 5th grade with the given B'nei Mitzvah date. The letter you will provide you with instructions for how to accept your date or let us know if there is a conflict for us to solve together.
If there are specific dates that you would like to request at the appropriate time, you may do so by emailing rgoldstein@bethelhebrew.org. While we cannot guarantee that you will receive one of these dates, we will keep them in consideration as the calendar is created.
