JCC/NV 55+ -- An Inside Look at the Census Bureau

Wednesday, December 11, 2019 13 Kislev 5780

10:30 AM - 12:00 PMMPR 1, 2, and 3

Presented by Joe Quartullo, Data Dissemination Specialist, U.S. Census Bureau The 2020 Census counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. Many people think that the Census Bureau only works every 10 years, but there’s a good chance you are seeing or hearing about work that it conducts the other nine years. Important information on employment, unemployment, health, crime, consumer spending, the number of new homes constructed, and the number of people in poverty are just a few of the topics collected in the Bureau’s monthly, quarterly, and annual surveys. Information from these surveys supply vital statistics used by, among others, government officials, corporations, Chambers of Commerce, academicians, researchers, and librarians. Joe’s presentation will highlight the social, economic, demographic, and housing data available from these surveys at the national, state, county, and local levels. Easy online tools to access this data will also be demonstrated, along with an update of the planning and status for the 2020 census. Count yourself in on this program! Fee: $5 RSVP: Shelly.Rosenstein@theJ.org, 703.537.3062
