At Beth El we are committed to making the world a better place for our world and the larger community through numerous ongoing social action project.
Beth El House helps formerly homeless families transition to independent living, and provides the following services:
- Housing for three homeless single-parent families
- A part-time case worker, resources and support services for families
The
Social Action Committee sponsors a variety of projects including:
- High Holiday Day food collection and food donation to homeless shelters
- Blood Drives
- Mitzvah Day
- Support for ALIVE!(ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically
), an Alexandia "safety net" for families
in need
- Assistance to Yevpatoriya, our "twinned" congregation in the Ukraine
The
Caring Community Committee has created a network of mutual support among Beth El members through
Gemilut Chasidim, acts of loving kindness. The committee offers:
- Practical support to members in times of bereavement
- Assistance in times of family need
- Information and resources
